2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference Coding Session Info


To maximize the value of your review of the coding sessions, the attendees utilized the following pre-work.

 

Title: HTC Android

 

Session Overview:

  • Mark Murphy, a leading Android technical SME and author 3 android development books, will lead a hands on session that will take developers through creating an Android app, widget and also how to leverage the HTC Sense UI framework.

Pre-work:        

  • Install the Android SDK (1.5r3 or 1.6r1) installed on the notebook
  • Install your IDE or other development tools (e.g., Eclipse)
  • Have your emulator configured with an AVD for target 2 or 3 (i.e., Android 1.5 with or without Google Maps)
  • successfully implement a Hello, World sort of app on this notebook, enough to confirm that their SDK and tools are all up, working, and capable of delivering an app to their emulator

Title: Palm Web OS

 

Session Description

  • Palm Developer Support Engineer Steven Feaster and other Palm resident webOS experts lead an informal workshop to help you get started with webOS app development. Palm’s staff will be there to provide individual and group hand-holding and instruction as you get up and running on webOS. Bring ideas for cool mobile apps and a wide open mind. And be sure to bring your laptop with Mojo SDK installed, please. To get the SDK, go to developer.palm.com and follow the signs to download..

Title: Mobile Java

 

Session Overview:

  • Sun will demo latest features in the Sprint WTK
  • Sprint will discuss Mobile Java development best practices for CDMA devices including Open APIs on Samsung Instinct devices and other topics
  • Sprint/Motorola will discuss Mobile Java development best practices for iDEN devices

Pre-work:         Configure your laptop to have the Sprint WTK 3.3.2 installed and Netbeans or Eclipse IDE (demos will be shown in Netbeans)

 

Title:  Windows Mobile

 

Session Overview:

  • Microsoft Technical SMEs will share development practices/best tips for Windows Mobile 6.5

Pre-work:         Configure your laptop to have Microsoft Windows Mobile SDK 6.5 and Visual Studio IDE

 

Title: RIM BlackBerry

 

Session Overview:

  • RIM Blackberry technical SMEs will be covering best practices of developing for the RIM Blackberry platform
