What are the requirements to register for the conference ?

You must be a registered user of our web site before you can register for our conference.  Site login is required prior to any specific event registration. Steps for registration are below

  If you are already registered with our web site:
    1. Go to http://developer.sprint.com/devcon2009 and click Register.
    2. If not logged in, you will be asked to do so.
    3. Once logged in, you will be taken to the '2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference Registration' page to register for the conference.
  If you have NOT already registered with our web site:
    1. Go to http://developer.sprint.com/devcon2009 and click Register.
    2. You will be asked to register with our web site. Please select 'Not Yet Registered?' on the left within the 'Member Login' box.
    3. Complete User Registration and click submit.
    4. You will then be taken to the '2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference Registration' page to register for the conference.

 

What airport services the Santa Clara Convention Center?

The Santa Clara Convention Center is serviced primarily by the San Jose International Airport.  You can also fly into San Francisco or Oakland, both are 45-60 minutes from the convention center.  We recommend that you arrive at specified airport at least two hours prior to departure. Please check with the airline 24 hours prior to departure for any flight delays and to get the most current carry-on luggage requirements. How should I handle ground transportation for the conference?

The convention center/hotel does not provide complimentary shuttle buses from area Airports; you are expected to provide your own means of transportation. The San Jose International Airport is located 5.3 miles from the convention center (approximately 20 min. drive) and a taxi will approximately cost $15-$27. For taxi rates from San Francisco and Oakland, please visit one of the following sites:  www.flysfo.com or www.flyoakland.com.  

 

How do I handle Conference check-in?

Please check-in at the conference registration desk at the Convention Center located outside Great Hall A to pick up your program information. The hotel check-in time is 3:00 p.m. If you arrive at the hotel prior to 3:00 p.m. and your room is not yet ready, the bell desk will hold your luggage until your room becomes available. Please pack a swimsuit, shirt and sandals in your carry on in case your room i not ready when you arrive at the hotel. Can I use a different hotel for the conference?

The 2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference hotels of choice are the Hyatt Santa Clara and the Santa Clara Hilton which have provided us with special discount rates. However, each Conference registrant can make alternative accommodations that best meet their particular individual requirements.

 

What is the climate typically like in Santa Clara, CA during the conference?

Typical October temperatures in Santa Clara range from daytime highs in the mid-70s with lows in the lower 50s. For an extended forecast, please check www.weather.com prior to your departure to ensure you are appropriately prepared for your trip.

 

What is the attire for the event?

Casual or Business Casual attire in all public areas is appropriate at the convention center.

Will Internet access be available at the 2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference?

Yes, it is expected that there will be wireless network connection available. However, please provide your own laptop and wireless card for networking and Internet access. Also, exercise due diligence to secure your personal computing equipment.

 

How much does it cost to attend the event?

Early Bird registration fees are $250 through September 15, 2009. Attendees who register after September 15, 2009 will be charge $350. 

 

What does my registration include?

Registration includes: Two full days of sessions, product demos, breakfast, lunch, snacks, Tuesday’s Dinner Reception, as well as discounted room rates at nearby hotels.

 

Are there any discounts available?

Early bird registration rates are being offered through September 15, 2009 - register by this date to take advantage of the discounted registration. In general, we've tried to set the conference fee at a reasonable level where the event is accessible to individuals.

 

What forms of payment are accepted for registration?

Registration payments may only be made via credit card through the online registration form. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.

 

How can I validate my registration?

An immediate notification of your registration will be seen on the registration site. You will also receive confirmation emails for: 1) Registration confirmation and 2) Credit Card payment verification.

 

Can someone else attend in my place?

Yes, if you are unable to attend the event, substitutions will be supported. Please submit your substitution request via email to sprintadp@sprint.com. We ask that you include your full name and replacement's name and email address. We will update your registration and send out a confirmation email to you and your replacement.

 

Is it possible to cancel my registration and obtain a refund?

Yes, refunds are available until September 15, 2009. Following September 15, 2009, we will support substitutions. Please email us your full name, confirmation number, replacement's full name and email address. We will update your registration and send out a confirmation email to you and your replacement.

 

Is there a one day pass?

No, single day passes are not available for the 2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference.

 

Is there a student discount?

No, there are no specific student discounted rates. Please take advantage of the Early Bird rate of $250 with registration by September 15, 2009.

 

I've lost my password and/or confirmation number. How can I obtain this information?

If you have misplaced your password or confirmation please contact us via email at: sprintadp@sprint.com and we will send the information to you.

 

How do I access my registration information on-line?

If you have completed your registration on the ADP portal (http://developer.sprint.com), login and click My Events just below where you enter your username and password.

 

I am not a US resident. Do I need a Visa to travel to San Francisco, CA for the conference?

It's best to check with your local government to confirm the required documents and arrangements needed for your travel to the US.

 

Are hotel accommodations included in the registration fee?

No, hotel accommodations are not included in the registration fee. However discounted rates are available at the Hilton and Hyatt hotels that are adjacent to the Santa Clara Convention Center. Please visit the “Hotel Information” section of the FAQs for additional information.

 

How do I book my hotel reservation?

What are the hours for on-site registration?

On-site registration will open Monday, October 26, at 7:30 a.m. It will be open at 7:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. on each day of the event.  

 

When will I receive my name badge?

Badges and conference materials will be made available on-site at registration check-in.

 

Can I get into the event without my name badge?

No, attendees will not be permitted to enter conference areas without a name badge. We ask that you please keep your badge with you at all times.

 

Who can attend the 2009 Sprint Open Developer Conference?

We recommend anyone interested in developing or utilizing mobile applications, providing mobile content, M2M (machine to machine) devices, and unified communications attend this event to better understand what Sprint and our partners are currently offering in support of open development.

Will the sessions be webcast?

No, we will not be webcasting the session live during the conference. However, we may record select sessions for viewing on the Sprint ADP web site and other internet venues following the conference.

 

How many people are anticipated to be in attendance?

We anticipate 2000 - 2500 attendees for this year's event.

 

What time does the event start and end each day?

Please find agenda details on the Sprint ADP web site within the agenda section of the conference registration. Details will be provided as they are finalized.

 

How is session scheduling being handled?

No pre-registering for individual sessions is necessary. They are open and available until seating is full. We will be updating the agenda on an ongoing basis so please continue to visit the web site for the latest details. 

 

Are attendees able to bring guests?

No, all attendees must be registered for the event.

 

Can I bring children to the event?

No, this is a professional technology event and not appropriate for children to attend. Please do not bring children to this event.

 

What is the attire for the event?

Casual / Business Casual

 

Will I receive additional information regarding the event?

Are there any special evening events?

There will be a Dinner Reception following sessions’ conclusion on Tuesday, October 27. Please join us in the Exhibitor Area for great food, drinks and conversation.
