Location Based Services

This section explores the various legal requirements and technical details of location based services (LBS) on the Sprint network. We discuss various GPS capabilities ranging from Autonomous operation to MS-assisted operation. Many of the GPS capabilities on Sprint devices are open, with only legacy devices being closed. Also included in this section, research at the University of South Florida explores solutions to challenges facing real-time LBS apps. The section concludes with an overview of consent and notification requirements.
