Themes

Welcome to the Sprint Themes program. Sprint is excited to launch this brand new platform that enables content partners to build customized UI skins for Sprint's data optimized (EVDO) wireless phones.

What are Sprint uiOne themes?

Sprint Themes (themes in short) are customized UI skins that incorporate various media such as images, icons and keytones. Theme-specific media and device specific features can be integrated into a theme to give the user a unique and rich device experience.

Sprint offers theme templates that provide the framework to build custom themes. These templates allow developers to use theme or developer specific content in a theme. Using the TrigBuilder tool or the uiOne SDK from Qualcomm, developers can choose one of the templates and manage resources such as images. Building a theme takes anywhere between a few minutes to a few hours depending on the complexity of the theme, graphic artistry ability and familiarity with TrigBuilder.

Themes allow developers to customize standby screens, the main menu, and the favorites listing. In the standby screen, developers have the flexibility to customize two navigation links. These links can be linked to theme-specific content, such as a collection of wallpapers or a collection of premium content. Icons and the background in the main menu can be customized to portray the theme's look-and-feel. Icons and the background of the favorites screen can also be customized and a user can bookmark their favorites from anywhere in the phone's navigation scheme.

Like other content such as games, ringers, screensavers and applications, themes can be downloaded to the phone using Sprint's content delivery system. The Sanyo MM-7500 will be Sprint's first uiOne theme device. This phone will be preloaded with two sample themes and more themes will be provided through the My Content folder. In early 2006, Sprint will start offering commercial themes available for purchase and download.
