It enabled the Annapolis Police Department (APD) to install mobile security cameras in the field and the bandwidth enabled the IPD to zero in on any kind of a criminal event real-time, which allowed immediate responses by law enforcement officers. Up to 5 times as many arrest were made compared to what was previously possible. Sprint continues to work with our customers to find killer apps, machine to machine and vertical applications that are truly enabled by 4G.

The transportation industry can also benefit from 4G network. An application can make use of 4G broadband in the bus, giving WiFi throughout the bus for all the passengers on the bus. This allows passengers to go about their internet activities while on the bus: email, video surfing, etc. Digital signage is possible so there is an advertising revenue opportunity and the ability to provide entertainment.

Also, there is a security aspect to broadband capability on mass transportation because they can get real-time videos of all activities on the bus and an emergency event and be seen in real-time and responded to in a more timely manner.
