Sprint 4G delivers broadband speeds up to 10x the speed of 3G
Sprint 4G delivers productivity, value and simplicity as key benefits to the customer. Results from speed tests throughout Baltimore market showed that 4G averages 10 times faster than competitive 3G networks in the same area. That type of speed in terms of wireless technology rivals cable modem, which is faster even than DSL services. A significant 4G benefit is reduced latency (below 100ms) compared to 3G, which means the visuals seen in streaming videos will always be in sync with the audio portion. With a dual-mode 3G/4G card, the card searches for 4G first to lock into 4G service, but if the user moves out of 4G coverage area, the card switches to 3G network. On Sprint's EVDO-Rev A network, users get the most dependable 3G service that continues to be nationally recognized. Additionally, there are other 4G single-mode products like embedded laptops and fixed modems. Is 4G significantly faster? In a real-time video simulation of 3G versus 4G on a standard def (see illustration below), the difference is visually compelling for 4G. In most cases, 3G service would not be able to process high def at all. How much faster is 4G? The average speeds in launched markets showed download speeds of 3-6 Mbps and upload speeds of 1 Mbps (capped). With 4G, consumer services can be provided at up to 10x the speed of 3G! As you think about consumer services and consumer applications, whether that's social networking, streaming videos on YouTube, or downloading movies/music, or uploading pictures to flickr, Sprint 4G allows you to give a consumer “internet on the go” and the ability to port their broadband application right to these mobile devices. This is the kind of opportunity Sprint 4G makes possible right now in the consumer space. ![]() |
