2006 Java One

The JavaOne conference is a premier event for the global Java community - and an annual opportunity to stay up-to-date on the latest innovations. It was a "must-see" event for developers who wanted to extend their skills and knowledge of mobile communications, enterprise developers and architects who want to extend their infrastructure to the mobile channel, and programming newcomers who want to enhance their core skills.

Sprint had a very successful Java One Conference this year. Experts shared their insights on how the mobile developer community is advancing and driving Java innovation in today's wireless marketplace.

Netbeans Software Day is an annual pre-Java One event that showcases the latest features and functionalities in the Netbeans software. Sprint was introduced by the CEO of Sun Microsystems, Jonathan Schwartz, as a strategic partner that has partnered with Sun to leverage the Netbeans software platform to provide the best set of mobile java development tools and resources for Sprint developers.

Jared Peterson, director of the Sprint ADP, gave a short presentation highlighting the important of wireless data to Sprint's existing and future revenue and how Java ME is the key development platform used by Sprint developers to provide the most innovative applications.

Jay Indurkar, Sprint ADP Technical SME for Mobile Java, did a ten minute demo that showed how developers can use the features in the Sprint Mobility IDE, a customized version of the Sun Netbeans Mobility software, to build an application that can play streaming multi-media files.

The Sprint demo was a smashing success that was seen by over 1000 attendees.  Throughout the conference various Java One attendees stopped by the Sprint booth to express their interest and desire on how to learn more about the software.

If you missed the demo, not a problem, you have two options. First, you can download the Sprint Wireless Toolkit 3.0  and Sprint Mobility IDE and check them out for yourselves. Second, attend our next educational series, Using the Sprint Wireless Toolkit 3.0 and Sprint Mobility IDE, on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1-2 p.m. EDT.
