Getting Started & User Management

Privacy

Every developer must first get consent (opt-in) from the device user in order to access the device with Sprint Services.

This optin allows the developer access to the following services for that device:

  • Location: the network based location of the device.
  • SMS: this allows the developer to send an SMS message to the device, standard messaging rates apply to the user.
  • SMS_Status: this allows the developer to see if an sms message has been successfully sent.
  • Presence: Determines if the device is on/off the Sprint Network.

How to get consent

  • Use the Add Device Section below.
  • Add a device using the user management API's.

Once the device has been added, the system will send a generated SMS message to that device containing a link to opt-in. The device user completes the opt-in process by clicking on the URL provided in the SMS alert. The URL will take the user to an opt-in page in their mobile device browser.

  • If the user opts-in, then the response is captured by Sprint
  • If the user opts-out, then the user will not be accessible via the service.
  • If the user takes no action, then by default they remain in the pending status
