re: Instinct OPEN GPS via JSR179 Mike R, While parts of this code is similar to previous post about how to use Autonomous GPS, the code I posted above specifically will use Assisted-GPS (AKA: MS-based) without any special requirements to setup a PDE value or prime the device by running Nav first. You also do not need to sign the app or provide any permissions, the JAR/JAD provided are unsigned and have no permissions and will work fine on any M800 or M810 with the latest firmware. One of the most exciting additions to this will be the OPEN'ing of GPS access via JSR179, this means no code signing, no PDE settings, no relationship with Sprint, just wide OPEN access to the GPS features of the handset. Location API access on Sprint devices Hi, We have been trying to run GPS application on the Sprint devices, wherein the devices are enabled with developer certificate. 1) Midlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.location.Location has been set 2)The application uses JSR179 and is signed using the Sprint WTK3.3.2 However still the application is unable to get the location provider instance. The following exception is thrown: misisng security permission: com.sprintpcs.util.location.msbased The devices we tried are LGLX270 and LX 3 vinod 35% Nov-16-2009
